Nightingale Foundation India is a non-profit organization for public health and nurses’ welfare. The major purpose of this foundation is to trace the dimensions of social and economical expansion of nurses in India and abroad. As we consider, public health is one of the key components which drive the development of the country; it is too crucial to ignore. Nurses are providing great services to the society through health assessment, high-quality care, and other helps to the people. But, despite their selfless services, they are not treated very well by the society and the top administration in their profession itself.
The ‘objective’ of this foundation is to have a broad perspective of nurses’ problems and to enhance the responsiveness to their troubles in their own field. These days, they are facing much harassment and exploitation from various authorities and, insults and problems from the society around them. Workplace harassment includes sexual and psychological violence, and deprivation of liberty. Violence against them is one of the crucial social mechanism by which nurses are forced into a subordinate position and are subjected to exploitation.
Nightingale Foundation India intends to contribute its mite in creating a congenial working environment for nurses and ensure their overall welfare.
The foundation seeks to work in collaboration with nurses in India and abroad in utilizing their own abilities for the improvement of their careers and lives, as well as for the welfare of the society at large. NFI strives to help them to fulfill all their needs and rights, and enjoy a higher degree of social justice; and find new avenues in their careers through job opportunities inside and outside of the country by online system. The foundation also provides free education enrollment through helpline number, in order to maximize the benefit of providing fieldwork education as a way of recruiting graduating students for employment in hospitals.
